An article in the Financial Times reports on executive attitudes to EU-wide guidelines on corporate governance conducted by law firm Allen & Overy.
Well done Mark Wippell at Allen & Overy and the 64% of UK executives that took part in this survey – I totally agree! Since Higgs – the UK has made real headway in getting its corporate governance right and the last thing we now need is another layer imposed on us from Brussels. A one size fits all approach to governance is highly inappropriate and will not work amongst different nation states; this is not the United States of Europe. Rightly our current government is attempting to reduce red tape and move business forward in this difficult climate – we really do not need further layers of corporate governance. Let us hope we will be left in peace.
